US Reinstates Tariff Exemptions on Some Chinese Goods Including Bicycle Parts
WASHINGTON – The Office of the United States Trade Representative today announced its determination to reinstate certain previously granted and extended product exclusions in the China Section 301 Investigation. The determination reinstates 352 of the 549 eligible exclusions, electric bike belongs to Section 301. The reinstated product exclusions will apply as of October 12, 2021, and extend through December 31, 2022.
On October 8, 2021, USTR invited comments on whether to reinstate 549 previously granted and extended exclusions. The decision is the result of a comprehensive public consultation and consensus with relevant agencies.
We note that the tariff-exempt goods include electric bike parts. This policy is beneficial to electric bike industry in USA. From this decision, we could realize two points:
1. For electric bike importers, they can save more cost when they importing electric bike products or parts from China., recovery of profits has made merchants have more purchasing needs while import cost has been reduced , retail also has more flexible choices.
2. Electric bike industry will be further promoted. Especially in the era of soaring international oil prices, electric bikes will become a greener, healthier and more convenient travel option, “Everyone has an electric bike" will become the norm in the future.
