Lotus launches the ultimate lightweight electric road bike

Electric travel trend is prevalent, people's mobility is also gradually changing, especially the use of electrically assisted bicycles, is rising year by year, in order to catch up with the wave of electric travel, many well-known car companies such as Porsche has launched a variety of bicycles to the market, but also wholly owned the acquisition of the electric bicycle manufacturer Fazua, BMW, Audi is not far behind, and have launched a new electrically-assisted products. Now Lotus, the UK's leading luxury sports car maker, has also taken the plunge into the e-bike circuit with the launch of an "ultra-luxurious" electric road bike. It's the Type 136, which Lotus describes as a new high-performance road e-bike inspired by the ride design of the Hope Lotus bike used by the British team at the Tokyo Olympics, and the Type 108 bike ridden by Chris Boardman at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Ultimate lightness Lightness is a constant demand for e-bikes, and Lotus has achieved the ultimate in lightweight design with its road e-bikes. The motor is the most important and heaviest part of the bike, and to achieve even less weight, the Type 136 uses what is claimed to be the world's lightest HPS Watt Assist Pro motor, weighing just 1.2kg, which is housed in a bottom bracket housing that blends seamlessly into the overall design.

As for the battery, the 193 watt-hour unit weighs just 300 grams, disguised as a water bottle, and the entire Watt Assist Pro motor system weighs 1.2 kg. Combined with the ultra-lightweight carbon fibre frame, which is handmade in Italy, the entire bike weighs just 9.8 kg, which is just a few pounds heavier than a lightweight racing road bike.

First-class components For a better riding experience, the Lotus Type 136 is equipped with world-class components such as an "aerodynamic" V-shaped handlebar, a winged fork and arched rear dropout, a Sram Red eTap AXS kit and DT Swiss ARC 1100 wheels, while the tyres are Pirelli race-quality tyres. Pirelli P Zero Race TLR race tyres are used.

In terms of performance the Type 136 uses HPS's e-bike motor system to provide the rider with up to a 35 per cent climbing advantage without disrupting the balance and pedal feel of a non-electric bike, the HPS system also features ANT+ connectivity allowing the user to pair the system with a variety of cycling computers to display assist modes, and can also be calibrated to set the settings to adjust the pedal assist according to the user's heart rate, scientific Training. Battery life is 3 hours and can be disassembled for recharging.

"Lotus will release 136 individually numbered limited edition bikes for $25,000 before the standard model goes on sale next spring. The limited edition models will come in the "traditional gold and black colour scheme" and feature Campagnolo Super Record and Ultra wheels. From early next year, two other models priced at "just over £15,000" will be released with SRAM Force or Red and DT Swiss wheels.

Lotus has enlisted the help of six-time Olympic champion Chris Boardman as a brand ambassador, who said at the launch event at its London showroom that "its design offers the perfect balance of aerodynamics, lightness and technology. the Type 136 has a truly unique dual-purpose function, it's a lightweight thoroughbred road bike, but it's also an ultralight e-bike". The Type 136 has a truly unique dual-purpose function. It is also mentioned that the Lotus Type 136's battery is capable of being carried on board an aircraft, meaning that the Lotus Type 136 has the most comprehensive range of application scenarios, both in terms of performance and application, with top-of-the-range configurations and, of course, price.Gravity also has a very light carbon fibre e-bike, so please feel free to enquire!
