Attention electric bicycle buyers!
On May 22, 2023, the UK Trade Remedies Agency (TRA) issued a notice to conduct a transitional review of the filing of anti-dumping and countervailing measures on electric bicycles (Electric Bicycles) originating from China, to determine whether the above measures originating from the EU will continue to be implemented in the UK and whether to adjust the level of duty. The UK customs codes for the products in question are 8711 60 10 10 and 8711 60 90 10. The dumping and subsidy investigation period is from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, and the injury investigation period is from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2023.
This is of immediate interest to companies importing electric bicycles and will not only affect whether the measures will be retained, but will also likely affect the final measure tariff rate level. In other words, if the tax rate is reduced, the import costs for electric bicycle companies will be greatly reduced and the profit margin will be greater.
